
SIX OF TEN local high school football teams won their CIF-SS first round games on Friday. Five will be at home in next week’s quarterfinals (Shutterstock).
Six of 10 teams from our West Orange County area won their first round CIF-SS football game and advanced to the quarterfinal round to be played on Friday, Nov. 10.
Victors were Western, Huntington Beach, Orange, Westminster, Los Amigos and Ocean View.
In Division 2, Edison lost 35-14 to Rancho Cucamonga and finished its season at 6-5.
In Division 5, Western (10-1) defeated Colony 42-14.
In Division 6, Huntington Beach (5-6) bested Glendora 29-21.
In Division 9, Orange (7-4) won over Diamond Bar 19-12 and Marina (6-5) lost 24-7 to Vista Del Lago.
In Division 11, Westminster (8-3) won 21-10 over Schurr.
In Division 13, Los Amigos (7-4) won a 28-20 triumph over San Gabriel.
In Division 14, Rancho Alamitos (7-4) lost 24-20 to Santa Rosa Academy and Ocean View (6-5) outlasted Bolsa Grande (6-5) by 38-28 in a shootout.
Quarterfinal matchups look like this:
- Division 5: Apple Valley at Western
- Division 6: Ontario Christian at Huntington Beach
- Division 9: Rio Hondo Prep at Orange
- Division 11: Cantrell Sacred Heart at Westminster
- Division 13: Los Amigos at Walnut
- Division 14: Bell Gardens at Ocean View.
