Police are investigating a traffic accident that claimed the life of a woman early Monday in Garden Grove.
According to GGPD Traffic Investigator John Yergler, the incident took place near the intersection of Haster Street and Chapman Avenue and was reported to police at about 5:45 a.m.
Arriving officers found a pedestrian “unresponsive.” Orange County Fire Authority paramedics arrived and pronounced her dead at the scene.
She was identified only as a 48-year-old transient whose last known address was in Garden Grove.
The driver involved was a 55-year-old Anaheim man driving a silver 2006 Mercury Grand Marquis. His name is being withheld pending the results of an investigation.
Neither alcohol or drugs are believed to be a factor in the incident.
