With renewed bombing by Israeli airplanes in southern Gaza, residents there have been told to evacuate, but to where? War has already ravaged wide swaths of both parts of Gaza.

“Another wave of displacement is underway,” said Thomas White, Gaza chief of a United Nations agency helping Palestinian refugees. “And the humanitarian situation is worse by the hour.”

Leaflets have been dropped on Gaza City urging people to head south. What’s considered the best and safest passage for civilians there – Al Rasheed Coastal Road – has become choked with traffic and sometimes subject to gunfire.

An estimated 2 million people are south Gaza, many of them in UN-operated refugee camps.

Ex-ambassador was “a spy for Cuba”

Victor Manuel Rocha, 73, a former U.S. ambassador to Bolivia, was arrested on Monday on multiple federal offenses allegedly committed while working as spy for the communist government of Cuba.

Attorney General Merrick Garland made the announcement, alleging that for over 40 years, Rocha spied on the U.S. government for Havana. He served both under President Bill Clinton and President George W. Bush,

In addition to his role as an ambassador, he served on the National Security Council staff.

Santos now selling custom videos

George Santos, who was expelled from the House of Representatives last week for numerous scandals, has launched a new web account in which he sells personalized videos of himself for up to $200 each. Also available are text messages for $10 each.

In addition to being kicked out of Congress, Santos is facing a federal indictment on charges of credit card fraud. He has pleaded not guilty.

Weather: Sunny for a while

Sunshine should return for at least a day to our West Orange County area on Tuesday. It will leave for three days and return on Saturday.

Tuesday is expected to be sunny with a daytime high of 81 and an overnight low of 52.  Wednesday will bring back the familiar “partly cloudy” label with a high of 73 (53). Thursday will be cooler at 68 (48) and Friday a little warmer at 71 (51). Mostly sunny weather should arrive by Saturday and temps of 76 (50).
