A fire in Garden Grove on Tuesday night did an estimated $1 million worth of damage. There were no injuries to residents or firefighters, but three cats perished in the blaze.
The Orange County Fire Authority received the call of a fire in the 9500 block of Sutherland Way (south of Westminster Avenue, near Bushard Street) at 8:35 p.m.
Upon arrival firefighters launched an attack on the blaze and searched for possible victims. All occupants had safely evacuated. The firefighters prevented the flames from engulfing an adjacent house.
Five cats were rescued, but three were not. The cause of the fire is under investigation. The damage is estimated to be $750,000 to the structure and $250,000 to its contents.
