Tobacco use among teenagers is the target of a proposed urgency ordinance on the agenda for Tuesday’s meeting of the Stanton City Council.

The council will considering a temporary moratorium on the establishment of any new tobacco retailer business and a temporary moratorium on the expansion, enlargement or alteration of any existing tobacco retailer business.

In a staff report, it’s stated that the “the city has identified ongoing violations among local tobacco retailers that continue to sell flavored tobacco products in violation” of state law and a city ordinance.
Also on the agenda is a public hearing considering the appeal of a planning commission resolution which revoked an earlier resolution that had approved operation of a motel at 11631 Beach Blvd., known as Dixie Orange County.

Staff is recommending that the council uphold the commission’s action to revoke the earlier approval.
The council will meet meet at City Hall, 7800 Katella Ave., with a special closed session at 5:30 p.m. and the joint regular session at 6:30 p.m.
