Judge: Musk can’t have $55b

A compensation package awarded to Elon Musk that’s potentially worth over $55 billion won’t go to the controversial business leader.

A Delaware judge – Chancellor Kathaleen St. Jude McCormick – ruled that the money awarded by Tesla’s board of directors was not appropriate. Shareholders had argued in a lawsuit that the board – which was not independent of Musk – had wasted corporate assets and unjustly enriched Musk.

The defense argued that the pay plan was negotiated by a compensation committee not tied to Musk or the board. Musk’s comment on X (the former Twitter) was “Never incorporate your company in the State of Delaware.”

Musk’s attorneys have argued that he didn’t dictate the terms of the package, but the judge denied that, saying that Musk was a controlling shareholder with a potential conflict of interest.

Militia vows to stop aiming at U.S. forces

The Iraqi-sponsored militia blamed for the drone attack in Jordan that killed three U,S, service-members and wounded dozens more, has said they will stop targeting American military outposts.

The announcement came Tuesday as President Joe Biden said he had decided what his response to the attack by Kata’ib Hezbollah would be, but didn’t state what action would follow.

Pressure from Iraq and Iran may have had an influence on the decision by the militia to vow not to repeat the attack.  The attacking drone may have gotten through U.S. defenses because an American drone was expected to return to base at that time.

Also on Tuesday, it was revealed that Israeli forces dressed in civilian clothes entered a hospital in Gaza and killed three people including a Hamas commander.

Mother of killer on trial for manslaughter

The mother of a 15-year-old boy convicted of fatally shooting four students at his Michigan high school in 2021 is facing a involuntary manslaughter charge with a potential 15-year prison sentence.

Testimony on Tuesday indicted that Jennifer Crumbley had taken time off work to meet with school officials over some “disturbing pictures” her son Ethan Crumbley had written on a math worksheet. She then returned to work without taking any action to deal with her son’s issues.

Minutes later when the shooting was reported she was seen running down the hall. She soon texted her employer, “I need my job. Please don’t judge me for what my son did.”

There were weapons and ammunition in the home in a gun case with a combination to open of 0-0-0.
The school system is facing lawsuits for not searching Ethan’s backpack despite the concerns about youth’s mental state.

The issue of impeachment of Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas is being pressed by the Republican majority on the House Homeland Security Committee.

A vote had not been taken by our deadline Tuesday night, but if approved, it would go to the full chamber where Republicans hold a slim majority. The charges would allege that Mayorkas “willfully” refused enforcement of immigration laws.

If the House did vote to impeach, the measure would almost certainly fail in the Senate, where Democrats hold a narrow majority. A two-thirds vote is required to convict and remove Mayorkas from office.
