Tuesday’s schedule of local high school basketball games brought some championships, records and some mysteries. Most area leagues will finish their schedules by Thursday and teams will turn their attention to the start of the CIF-SS playoffs next week.

On the boys side, Savanna’s 59-48 win over Western gave the Rebels the championship of the Orange League. With a 9-0 record, Savanna is two games ahead of Western with one league game to play.

The situation in the Garden Grove League will be settled on Thursday. Los Amigos (now 8-1 in league) defeated Bolsa Grande 64-35 on Tuesday, clinching no worse than a tie for the title for the Lobos.
The Cavaliers (7-2) defeated Loara 67-64 to give them a chance to share the title when they meet LAHS on Thursday evening.

Marina’s 51-43 win over Huntington Beach set up Thursday’s Wave League title game against Corona del Mar.

On the girls side, Orangewood Academy defeated Brentwood 61-56 in a non-league game that brought coach Leslie Aragon his 500th career coaching victory. Aragon coaches both the boys and girls teams at Orangewood.

Loara won the Garden Grove League title with a 38-35 win over Santiago as Sophia Rangel scored 21 points for the Saxons.
