‘Hometown’ is festival’s theme

Orange County’s biggest community event, the Garden Grove Strawberry Festival returns again this Memorial Day weekend with a theme that will make locals feel right at home.

Mark Mahoney, who has been elected to serve as president of the Garden Grove Strawberry Festival Association, with his associate, Miles Mahoney, for the 2023-2024 calendar year, announced this week the theme of the 64th Annual Garden Grove Strawberry Festival, held during Memorial Day Weekend, May 24 –27, will be “Celebrating Our Hometown.”

Mahoney said, “This year, the festival’s theme will be centered around our hometown, and celebrating its rich history. We will pay homage to our wonderful city and its diverse culture.”

Other 2024 GGSFA officers elected include: Tony Lopez, President Elect/Non-Profit Food Booth/Nominations Chair; with Erik Skillman as associate; George Skelton, Treasurer/Donations Committee with Suki Carter serving as associate; and Christine Ball Secretary/Insurance with Robin Suarez, her associate.

An annual highlight of the festival, the Strawberry Festival Parade, will take place on Saturday, May 25 which falls on National Hometown Day, and will feature celebrities, elected officials, visiting bands, equestrian units and much more.

Admission to the festival is free and open to the public. The festival will take place at the Village Green Park, located at the Village Green Park, at the corner of Euclid and Main streets.

Additional information and surprises about the 64th Annual Garden Grove Strawberry Festival, including the 2024 Celebrity Grand Marshal and 2024 Theme Grand Marshal, who will be leading the Festival’s parade on Saturday, May 25 at 10 a.m. through the streets of Garden Grove, will soon be announced, according to Mahoney.
