A Garden Grove man who allegedly sought to rob two banks in Northern California was arrested back at his home in the Big Strawberry.
According to the Salinas Police Department, Michael Todd Haley (at left) has been taken north and facing charges of robbery and armed robbery.
On Monday at 12:30 p.m., a male entered the Mechanics Bank at 1285 N. Davis Rd. He walked up to a teller station and robbed the bank of $1800, then left the bank, driving away in a white automobile.
Investigators were able to determine the vehicle may have been one connected to an attempted robbery in Gilroy two days before. The car in question was registered to Haley, who was considered a suspect in both incidents.
He was found to have an “extensive criminal history” and has four prior robbery convictions from 2009-2013 in places that include Perris, Monterey, Milpitas and Salinas.
A search warrant and arrest warrant were issued for Haley and the GGPD was able to locate Haley in his home. A SWAT team served the warrants and took him into custody.
