
FOUR OF six local girls high school basketball teams lost their playoff games on Saturday (Shutterstock).
It was a rough Saturday night overall for girls basketball teams from our West Orange County area in CIF-SS playoff action on Saturday night. Four of six teams went down to defeat.
In Division 1 pool play, Orangewood Academy of Garden Grove was defeated 82-43 by Sierra Canyon.
In second round division action, Huntington Beach lost 69-37 to JSerra in Division 3A play. Marina lost 70-46 to Canyon of Anaheim in D-4AA action. Magnolia fell 68-39 to Whittier Christian in D-4A play.
But Pacifica defeated Geffen 50-41 in a 3A game and Loara bested Duarte 52-35 in 5AA.
In the sole boys game on Saturday, Westminster suffered a 65-49 loss to Trinity Christian Academy in 5AA play.
The girls quarterfinal games are scheduled for Wednesday. In 4AA play, Pacifica will host Newbury Park and in 5AA action, Loara will travel to Adelanto.
In Division 1 pool play (Pool A), Orangewood will take on Mater Dei on Wednesday.
