The legality of Israel’s six-decade occupation of Palestine is being debated before the International Court of Justice in The Hague, in The Netherlands.

Israel’s presence in Gaza and other Palestinian territories was termed “colonialism” and “apartheid” by Riyad al-Maliki, Palestine’s foreign minister.

The hearings will last six days with representatives from over four dozen nations expected to speak on the status of Palestine.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu called the court’s actions to be “despicable” and “disgraceful.”

Two missiles were reportedly fired at the cargo ship, one striking it. The attacks on shipping in the Red Sea and Gulf of  Eden are said to be attempts to influence or force Israel to end its military operations in Gaza.
