Felony charges against suspect in New Year’s Eve shooting

MULTIPLE felony charges are being pressed against a Garden Grove man in a New Year’s Eve incident (Shutterstock).

A Garden Grove man faces multiple felony charges in connection with a shooting incident on New Year’s Eve.

According to authorities, Juan Manuel Uriarte, 34, on Thursday was charged with two counts of attempted murder, two counts of assault with a semiautomatic firearm and two counts of possession of a gun by a felon.

Additionally, he is charged with shooting at a car, being a prohibited person owning ammunition, and sentencing enhancements for attempted premeditated murder and shooting a gun.

He allegedly fired at the car while on foot in the area of Buena Street and Keel Avenue in what’s known as the Buena Clinton area; the intended victims were not hurt.

Uriarte was held on $500,000 bail and his arraignment is scheduled for March 15 in the West Justice Center in Westminster.
