What color is the sky? Does Surf City like the Bill of Rights?
Such weighty questions will be addressed at Tuesday’s meeting of the Huntington Beach City Council.
Two members of the council have asked that items be placed on the agenda which are not generally present on a city’s order of business.
Mayor Pro Tem Pat Burns submitted: “Affirmation of the Huntington Beach City Council’s Commitment to the United States Constitution and Special Recognition that Huntington Beach is a 1st and 2nd Amendment Friendly City.”
Councilmember Dan Kalmick wants the council to “reaffirm by minute action that water is wet and the sky is blue.”
Also on the agenda for Tuesday’s meeting is a public hearing on the city budget for the 2024-25 fiscal year, along with other “housekeeping” details such as setting the fee for transportation charges to be charged by the city’s fire department.
The council will meet in its chambers at 2000 Main St. (at Yorktown Avenue) at 5 p.m. in a closed session, with the regular meeting at 6 p.m.
