The City of Stanton’s struggle against prostitution may be coming into focus … literally.

At Tuesday’s meeting, the city council will consider leasing two solar-powered camera trailers that are intended to “decrease the demand for prostitution and human trafficking by increasing the risk of detention and arrest for buyers of illegal sex,” according to a staff report.

It may also deter illegal dumping, auto theft and other issues. Location of the cameras is not specially noted in the report, but they will be located on public streets adjacent to public sidewalks in “hot spot” areas known for prostitution and relocated based on need.

The video (there’s no audio) will not be live streamed and it will be available to the public for free.

In the past, certain stretches of Beach Boulevard has been a center for sex solicitations.

The rental cost for 12 months from Wireless CCTV, LLC totals $37,200 and lease is part of a cooperative purchasing agreement with the city of Palmdale.

Also on the agenda are:

• a cooperative agreement with the City of Garden Grove to resurface Fern Street from Stanford Avenue to Garden Grove Boulevard;
• award of a contract to demolish two vacant buildings at 8930 Pacific Avenue east at a cost of $96,000.

The council will meet at 6 p.m. in City Hall at 6 p.m.
