What could be another marathon meeting of the Westminster City Council will again take up the question of whether or when to censure Councilmember Amy Phan West at an adjourned version of Tuesday night’s special meeting “during” Wednesday’s meeting.

A special meeting of the council was called for Tuesday evening, with the chief purpose being to “revisit” the earlier decision of the council at its June 12 meeting to censure West for an array of alleged misconduct, but delay the final resolution to Sept. 11, hoping for improved behavior.

West and ally Councilman NamQuan Nguyen were absent at Tuesday’s special meeting, and it was expected that, in lieu of waiting until September, the remaining council majority would move the resolution up, perhaps to Aug. 14.

That would be because of West’s reported continued defiance, but Vice Mayor Kimberly Ho wanted to add two items to the resolution, namely removing West from city committees and boards and declaring her responsible for legal expenses connected to her conduct.

The three remaining council members voted to continue Tuesday’s meeting to Wednesday. The regular meeting – which will include consideration of the 2024-25 city budget – will commence at 6 p.m., stop at 8 p.m. and resume after the continued meeting is concluded.
