Russian missiles kill 31, and strike children’s hospital

At least 31 people were killed when Russian missiles rained down on Ukrainian cities on Monday. Damaged was the largest children’s hospital in the country.

Five cities were struck as Russia hurled an estimated 40 missiles in the attack. Thirty of those missiles were knocked down by Ukrainian air defense systems, said President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, but over 150 people were also wounded.

“It is very important that the world should not be silent about it now and that everyone should see what Russia is and what it is doing,” said Zelenskyy.

Russia denied targeting the children’s hospital, claiming its strikes only hit military facilities.

Beryl storms through Houston

At least seven people wee killed and power was knocked out for millions of people across Texas as Tropical Storm Beryl rampaged across the Houston area on Monday.

Power lines were downed, trees were knocked over and some streets were flooded in Houston. Some houses had their roofs ripped off when hit by powerful gusts.

It was estimated that as many as one in five utility customers in Texas lost electrical power; over 2.7 million outages were reported in the Houston area.

Sports: Angels fall to the Rangers

The Los Angeles Angels lost 9-4 to Texas Rangers in Anaheim Monday night. They led briefly 3-2 in the second inning on Mickey Moniak’s two-run triple and Jo Adell’s RBI single, but the Rangers outscored them 7-1 the rest of the way.
