An ice cream social in planned for Thursday (Aug. 1) at the Garden Grove Main Library at noon.

Guests can enjoy ice cream with a choice of toppings. Supplies are available as long as they last, so it’s first come, first served.

It’s all a part of the Orange County Public Libraries summer reading program.

The library is located at 11200 Stanford Ave., Garden Grove (at Euclid Street).

It’s time for “Out of Time”

A new free program for kids ages 6 to11 will start on Monday, Aug. 12 at the Stanton Family Resource Center, 11922 Santa Paula St.

It’s called “Out of School Time” and will offer snacks, games and more. The hours will be from 3-6 p.m. Register at stantonca.gov/classes or by calling (714) 379-0129.

Local alums in the Olympics

The athletes we see on TV in the summer Olympics in Paris are from all around the world, but some of them are from around here.
