A policy that would give spouses of American citizens legal status without having to leave their country has been put on hold by a federal judge in Texas.
The stay of a Biden Administration policy followed legal action by 16 states with Republican attorneys general whochallenged the policy.
States are objecting on the grounds that additional immigration would add to already rising expenses ranging from law enforcement to health care connected to illegal immigration.
The program was announced in June; Monday’s action by U.S. District Judge J. Campbell Barker pauses the policy for two weeks, although it could be extended.

“Like most previous Russian strikes, this one was just as vile, targeting critical infrastructure,” said Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal called on Ukraine’s allies to supply Ukraine with weapons to strike at long range into Russia, and the authorization to do it.
