Edison High School’s football team shook off two tough losses against powerful opponents at the start of the season and got back into the win column Friday with a 29-15 defeat of Lakewood to improve to 1-2.

Huntington Beach (1-2),  also playing a tough schedule, wasn’t as successful, losing 29-24 to Capistrano Valley.

Brady Edmunds passed for 345 yards and two touchdowns for the Oilers.

Garden Grove, trying to bounce back from a shutout loss last week, came close but lost by the margin of extra points and fell 21-19 to Santa Ana to go to 1-2.

Rancho Alamitos thumped Anaheim 42-14 at Glover Stadium to stay unbeaten at 2-0.

Bolsa Grande (0-2), on the other hand, remains winless after losing 28-16 to Artesia on the road.

Western (1-1) was on the short end of a high-scoring barn-burner, losing 70-47 against El Toro on the road.
