Baseball is all about hitting the ball where the fielders aren’t. The Los Angeles Angels didn’t do nearly enough of that on Friday night and lost 6-3 to the Houston Astros in Anaheim.

The Halos could manage only three hits, one of them a home run by Mickey Moniak, his 14th of the season.

After falling behind 4-0, the Halos rallied to within one run, but couldn’t close the gap. The visitors, on the other hand, had 14 hits.

Angel starter Samuel Aldergheri (1-2) worked two innings, getting touched for six hits and four earned runs. He hurt himself by walking five batters.

The Angels are 60-87, still in fifth place in the American League West. With the loss, the team was mathematically eliminated from post-season play.
