In an old-fashioned slugfest, the Los Angeles Dodgers overcame an early deficit but eventually fell 11-9 to the Miami Marlins Tuesday night at LoanDepot Park.

Although the defeat allowed the Blue Crew’s lead in the national league West to shrink to three games over the second place San Diego Padres, there was a highlight: Shohei Ohtani hit a two-run home run that was his 48th round-tripper of the year, getting nearer an historic 50-homer, 50-stolen base season.

Max Muncy drove in five runs with two two-run doubles and a single.

Back in Anaheim, the Los Angeles Angels snapped a six-game losing streak in Anaheim with a 5-0 victory over the Chicago White Sox.

Griffin Canning (6-13) pitched six shutout innings, yielding just three hits. He struck out six batters and walked two. Taylor Ward patted 3-for-4 and Eric Wagaman hit a two-run home run in the sixth inning.

The Angels are now 61-90 and remain in fifth place in the American League West.
