Marina High’s football team saw its unbeaten record get dinged Thursday night against Kennedy in a Lambda League contest at Handel Field.
The Vikings lost 20-14 to the Fighting Irish to fall to 3-1 in league (8-1) overall. But title hopes are not all lost. Assuming that first place Beckman (8-0, 3-0) defeats Valencia (3-5, 0-3) on Friday, that sets up a big game on Nov. 1. If the Vikes can defeat the Patriots, that would lead to a two- or three-way tie for the crown, if Kennedy beats Sunny Hills (1-7, 1-2) next week.
Also on Thursday night, Rancho Alamitos lost 42-29 to Calvary Chapel/Santa Ana in a Sigma League contest. The Vaqueros are 5-4 overall, but 1-3 in league which is fifth place.
