Election Day is stretching into Election Weeks, as the vote count continues by the Orange County Registar of Voters.
The most-viewed races include two Congressional seats and several posts on local boards and councils.
As of closing time on Friday at the county registrar’s office, Dave Min, a Democrat, continues to hold on to a 9,000-vote edge over Republican Scott Baugh in the 47th District contest for a seat in the U.S. House of Representatives. News organizations have “called” this race for Min.
In the 45th District race, the two candidates – Republican incumbent Michelle Steel and Democratic challenger Derek Tran – are locked in a virtual tie. Steel has a slim 88-vote lead over him, but there are still about 34,000 votes remaining to be counted.
Steel has the edge in Orange County, but the district takes in part of Los Angeles County (the Cerritos area) and votes from that area have almost wiped out her lead.
Other close races include:
• Huntington Beach City School District Board, Trustee Area 1: Brian Burley is leading Cindy Barrios by 125 votes.
• Garden Grove City Council, District 6: Ariana Arestegui leads Tri Lam by 221 votes.

I hope this turns out for Steel. I don’t like the smear tactics they used on her. That was the supreme court that ruled on the Roe abortion and left it up to the State to rule on, as it should be. Steel had no say in it.
