Derek Tran, the Democratic challenger for the 45th Congressional District representing much of West Orange County and Cerritos in Los Angeles County, is claiming victory over incumbent Republican Michelle Steel.

According to the latest figures from the California Secretary of State, Tran has received 157,960 votes, or 50.1 percent of the ballots tallied.
Steel has 157,347 or 49.9 percent. That’s an edge of 613 votes to Tran, with an estimated 2,700 ballots yet to count.

Steel has not conceded, and the Associated Press has not called the race for Tran.
