ORANGE COUNTY Sheriff’s Department is investigating a fatal shooting in Stanton (Shutterstock).

The investigation is continuing into a shooting incident in Stanton that took the life of one victim and wounded another.

According to the Orange County Sheriff’s Department – which provides police services to Stanton – deputies were dispatched to the area of Orangewood Avenue and Court Street (east of Stanton Avenue) at around 4:19 p.m. on Friday.

Arriving deputies found an adult man in a vehicle on Court Street suffering from a gunshot wound. That victim, identified as Jonathan Alexis Jimenez, 18, of Stanton, was taken to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead.

A second victim, an adult male found in the same vehicle, was treated at the scene for non-life-threatening injuries related to the incident.

Several subjects at the scene were detained while the OCSD’s Homicide and Gang Enforcement Team is continuing to investigate.
