Coming off a first round 55-50 victory over Maranatha Christian on Tuesday, the Pacifica High boys’ basketball team advances into the second round of the CIF State Regionals Division IV on Thursday, visiting Grant High of Van Nuys.
The Mariners (22-11) will play the Lancers (18-14) at 7 p.m. They finished second in the East Valley League and defeated the Elsinore Tigers of Wildomar 76-65 on Tuesday.
Grant is led by Ronald Merrill, who averages 18.9 points per game. The top rebounder is Noah Lett with 7.9 per game and Andrew Berry averages 3.4 assists per game.
The winner of this game goes to the regional semifinals on Saturday, March 8. The SoCal finals will be on Tuesday, March 11 and the state finals on Saturday, March 15.
