The possibility of an economic recession was not ruled out by President Donald Trump in a televised interview on Sunday.
Speaking with Maria Bartiromo, host of a show on Fox News, Trump answered a question about “rising worries” possibility of a “slowdown” in the form of a recession.
According to The New York Times, he said, “I hate to predict things like that. There is a period of transition, because what we’re doing is very big. We’re bringing wealth back to America. That’s a big thing, and there are always periods of, it takes a little time. It takes a little time, but I think it should be great for us.”
Trump is imposing tariffs on Canada, Mexico and China – three of America’s biggest trading partners. Canada and Mexico have vowed to impose matching tariffs on imports from the United States.
New Canadian leader picked
The next prime minister of Canada will be Mark Carney, selected by the Liberal Party.
The Canadian Parliament selects the prime minister and with the Liberals holding a majority in that body, his selection as their leader makes him the likely next prime minister, according to the Associated Press.
He is a former governor of the Bank of Canada.
But there is an election coming up in a few weeks and his Liberal Party is trailing the Conservative Party by 37 to 34 percent in the latest poll.

There’s a 82 percent chance of rain with a high of 59 and a low of 53. On Wednesday, the chance of rain slips to 51 percent with a high of 63 and a low of 51. Thursday will see more rain (82 percent) and temps of 56 (42).
