A CRASH against a tree took the life of a motorist in Garden Grove Thursday morning (Shutterstock).

A car crashed into a tree in Garden Grove early Thursday morning and the driver was fatally injured.

According to Sgt. Charles Starnes of the GGPD, the collision took place in the 13200 block of Chapman Avenue around 4:50 a.m. between Haster and Lewis streets.

Arriving officers found the driver unresponsive. Orange Fire Department personnel assessed the driver’s injuries and the driver – James Eads, 78, of Orange – was pronounced dead at the scene.

There’s no indication that alcohol or drugs contributed to the crash.
