There are no city streets paved with gold, but Stanton will soon be getting better-surfaced roadways.
At Tuesday’s meeting the Stanton City Council approved the awarding of a construction contract for a citywide street resurfacing project to R.J Noble Company in the amount of $1,224,741.77.
The work to be done is the repair, maintenance and minor alterations of existing streets, sidewalks and similar facilities.
The vote was 3-0 with Mayor David Shawver and Councilmember Victor Barrios with excused absences.
Also on Tuesday night, the council – by the same vote – approved a continuance of the proclamation of the existence of local emergency caused by the homelessness crisis.
