Gang members flown to El Salvador despite order

TERRORISM CONFINEMENT CENTER in El Salvador (President of El Salvador’s office).

Although a federal judge issued an order temporarily blocking the deportation of hundreds of Venezuelan gang members to El Salvador, hundreds of them have been transferred.

According to the Associated Press, the order was issued by U.S. District Judge James E. Boasberg on Saturday morning but on Sunday White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt issued a statement that the airplane carrying the prisoners was already in the air at the time of the ruling.

The Department of Justice, which is appealing the court order, said it would not act in contradiction to the executive order by President Donald Trump – based on the Alien Enemies Act of 1798 – unless it was overturned.

Democrats angry at Schumer

Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-New York) is under fire for members of his own party for his reversal on a bill to avert a government shutdown.

According to The New York Times, after expressing his opposition the bill on Wednesday, he changed his mind on Friday and announced his support.

He told reporters his change was because he believed allowing a shutdown would empower President Donald Trump and DOGE leader Elon Musk in their efforts to further make unilateral cuts in the federal government.

Many critics in his own Democratic Party want a harder line to oppose Trump’s unprecedented agenda.
A recent poll of Democrats said that only 27 percent expressed support for their party, with most wanting a stronger opposition.
