The stock market rallied dramatically on Monday, rising by over 1,100 points in response to the announcement of a 90-day truce in the trade conflict between the United States and China.
The Associated Press is reporting that the Dow Jones Industrial Average climbed by 1,160 points (2.8 percent). The S&P 500 was up by 3.3 percent and Nasdaq by 4.3 percent.
It all came in reaction to a joint statement by the U.S. and China in which the United States will reduce its tariffs on Chinese goods to 30 percent, down from a peak of 145 percent. China’s response is to drop its tariff’s on American goods from 125 to 10 percent.
The truce is good for three months, during which time the two parties will seek to make a permanent agreement.

According to the AP, Edan Alexander, 21, was released to the Red Cross and from there to Israeli forces before being flown by a helicopter to a hospital in Tel Aviv.
