Angels fall; Dodger bats silent

THE DODGERS lost and the Angels lost.

The Los Angeles Dodgers continued to stagger through the stretch run of the 2025 pennant race, losing 2-1 to the Orioles in Baltimore.

Freddie Freeman got the sole Dodger run with a home run in the top of the sixth, and Samuel Basallo won the game with a home run in the bottom of the ninth for a walkoff win.

Despite the loss – their fourth in a row – the Dodgers (78-63) maintained their two-game lead in the National League West, as the second place Padres have lost five games in a row.

The two teams will play again on Saturday.

The Blue Crew is winless in September and lost six of their last seven games. On top of that, they had a mediocre 15-14 record in August, allowing San Diego to get close.

A four-run first inning Friday night in Anaheim wasn’t enough for the Los Angeles Angels as the Athletics responded with a seven-run third inning.

The A’s went on to a 10-4 win against the Halos, whose record fell to 66-75. They remain in fourth place in the American League West.

The Angels and A’s will face off again on Saturday.
