Palestine received a major diplomat boost on Sunday when it received status as an
independent nation from the United Kingdom, Australia and Canada.
The Associated Press reported that the three Commonwealth nations made the announcement jointly.
The United States and Israel objected. Israeli Prime Minister said that the establishment of a Palestinian state “will not happen” as Hamas continues to urge the international community to “isolate Israel.”
Hamas called the announcement by the three nations an important step toward a “just and lasting peace.”
