A FOGG-y event brings crowd

Hungry and curious crowds thronged the Village Green park and a stretch of Main Street in Garden Grove’s downtown on Friday evening for “FOGG [Foods of Garden Grove] LIVE,” the second annual celebration of the local cuisine and community spirit.

More than two dozen eateries, offering a wide variety of foods from classic American fare to Asian, Italian, Mexican and more offered attendees a chance to sample – for a modest price – bite-sized offerings in a well-organized and attractive setting.

“It’s great,” said Garden Grove Councilman George Brietigam (District 1). “It brings all the better restaurants in the city together and the community can try them all out. That brings in increased customer business which improves the tax base for the city, so it’s a win-win-win.”

In addition to the food, a musical concert was staged at the Garden Amp in the park, the Friday Night Car Show was underway in the southern part of Main Street, a performance of “Avenue Q” was on stage at the Gem Theatre and – in a renewal of a rivalry that began in 1958 – football teams from Garden Grove and Rancho Alamitos high schools clashed nearby at Monsoor Stadium.

The event was organized by the City of Garden Grove.

  1. This was my first time to go to the FFGG, it was a great event I enjoyed trying different foods listening to music the turnout was great lots of people I support garden Grove. I grew up in garden Grove. I’m looking forward to doing this again next year.. they need to make some changes about the line getting the tickets because the line was on the grass and it’s very hard to walk on for people with disabilities or seniors. And it was hard to take that tickets up the sheet. Otherwise I had a good time thank you garden Grove.
