League action for most of our West Orange County teams this week resulted in wins, but there were also upsets, blowouts and nail-biters.

Our top-ranked High Five team, the Edison Chargers, improved to 5-2 with a 21-10 non-league win over Summit of Fontana.

Second-ranked Huntington Beach is 5-1 after defeating Laguna Hills 65-10 in the Epsilon League opener.

Third-ranked Western (4-2) suffered a 41-14 defeat at the hands of Capistrano Valley (5-1) in the Delta League opening game.

The Orange High Panthers (4-2) began Foxtrot League action with a 52-14 win over Fountain Valley (1-5).

Marina (4-1), fifth in the High Five, took a 28-21 defeat at the hands of Sunny Hills (5-1). The Vikes’ Francis Saporito ran for one TD and passed for two more, both to Carson Hunnicutt.

Of the three teams “on the bubble,” just Pacifica posted a win. The Mariners (3-3) beat University High of Irvine 42-6 in the Omicron League. Westminster (2-4) fell to Brea Olinda 21-0 and Garden Grove (2-4) lost a shootout to the Esperanza Aztecs by 58-33 in the Kappa League.

Likely to climb the ladder is Ocean View (5-1), which defeated Los Amigos 20-13 on Thursday night in the Sigma League.

Jodey Sok scored the winning touchdown with less than a minute to play as the Seahawks defeated the Lobos (3-3).

In the Western-Capo Valley game, Chance Thomas threw two touchdown passes for the Pioneers.
