The way is now clear for the deployment of National Guard troops to Portland, Oregon.
According to The New York Times, the U.S. Court of Appeals overturned a lower court’s decision that stopped the deployment of Oregon’s Guard to the state’s biggest city.
A U.S District Court judge earlier issued two restraining orders, one banning Trump from taking over the NG and another sending any troops into Portland.
On Monday a court of appeals overturned the first restraining order, but since the second was not appealed, remained in place for a while.
Attorney’s for Portland and the State of Oregon demanded a “broader panel of appeals,” a request that has a deadline of midnight Wednesday for the parties to file their arguments on that request.
Many kids stay inside, says poll
A new survey indicates that millions of American children play outside no more than once a week.
Untied Press International reports that a study by the University of Michigan found that about one in ten kids leave their homes to play. The study indicated that four in 10 of parents polled expressed worry when their child goes too far from home or climbs too high.
Actions such as tree-climbing, bike-riding snd sliding down a playground poll might make some parents fearful for their child’s safety, although doctors say they build confidence in children and improve their problem-solving abilities.
While most parents polled said they let small children cross monkey bars and use swings on their own, almost half hold the child’s hand and sit “right next” to them when trying something new.
