Catastrophic flooding could, along with landslides, be in the near future for areas of Cuba, Jamaica and Hispaniola (Haiti and the Dominican Republic) as the Category 5 Hurricane Melissa approaches.

According to the Associated Press, mountainous terrain and steep hill slopes could make likely flash flooding which could devastate cities, towns and farms.

The roads built along the slopes have created a steeper slope higher up, making landslides more powerful.

Melissa could dump as much as 40 inches of water which will provide a rapid rush of water. Winds of 175 miles an hour are being reported by  The New York Times.

Trump may want third term

After a MRI that he says had “perfect” results, President Donald Trump on Monday again raised the possibility of a third term in the White House.

The New York Times reported that Trump said “he would love to do it” because of his popularity with his supporters.

The Constitution sets a two-term limit on presidencies, but various theories have been advanced as to how to circumvent the 22nd Amendment.

Trump lost the popular vote in 2016 to Hillary Clinton, but won the Electoral College. In 2020 he lost the popular and electoral vote to Joe Biden, but made unsupported claims of election fraud.

In 2024, he defeated Kamala Harris narrowly in the popular and electoral votes.
