A 28-year-old Santa Ana man has been arrested in the fatal shooting of a man in Huntington Beach on Sunday.
According to the HBPD, the incident took place in the area of Ash Lane and Mandrell Drive. Police received reports of shots fired at around 2:26 p.m.
Arriving officers found an adult male victim suffering from gunshot wounds. He was taken to a local trauma center where he died from his wounds. His identity is being withheld pending notification of his next of kin.
The joint efforts of the HBPD Major Crimes Unit and the Special Investigations Bureau, along with help from the Orange County Sheriff’s Department and Crime Lab resulted in identifying Luis Angel Mireles as a person of interest.
At around 11:30 p.m., detectives located him in Santa Ana.
Interviews and evidence gathered at the scene led to the arrest of Mireles for murder and violation of probation. He was booked into the Huntington Beach City Jail.
