Playoff prospects for hoops

IT’S ALMOST playoff time for local prep basketball teams (Shutterstock).

The regular season for the local boys’ high school season finished this week with league championships won and now, the CIF-SS playoffs beginning next week.

Pairings and schedules for that tournament will be announced over the weekend; we’ll post those games that involve local teams in our area of coverage.

Three of those “locals” won league titles; as many as four others earned playoff spots. The number of tickets to the postseason varies, based on the size of the league. Generally, it’s three teams for a six-team league, for example.

Here’s how the situation looks.
Coast League: Los Amigos won the title and Western second.
Sunset League: Corona del Mar the champs; Edison took third.
Golden West League: Laguna Hills won the title; Garden Grove was third.
Orange Coast League: Segerstrom was first and Ocean View third
Orange League: Bolsa Grande shared the title with Loara.
