A clerk and a teacher were honored last week by the Garden Grove Unified School District Board of Education as Employees of the Month.

At last week’s meeting, the board celebrated Sueannie Baltazar, clerk II, for the Office of 7-12 instruction for the classified honor, and Jackie Novak, a teacher at Carrillo Elementary School as the certificated choice.

Also at that meeting, the board marked the 60th anniversary of the establishment of the GGUSD. It was formed in 1965 from the unification of the community’s three school districts: Garden Grove Elementary School District, Alamitos School District and Garden Grove Union High School District.

Additionally, the board members wore their ao dai traditional garb in observance of the Lunar New Year, which is “Year of The Horse.”
