THE SCENE on Brookhurst Street in Huntington Beach (HBPD).

A 76-year-old Huntington Beach man has been arrested for murder in the shooting death of a woman in Huntington Beach on Tuesday morning.

Arrested was Robert Alvarez, according to the HBPD.

Police were dispatched to the 19000 block of Brookhurst Street (south of Garfield Avenue) around 10 a.m. in response to a report of a family disturbance with shots fired.

There was no answer at the front door and officers “made entry” into the home. They located a suspect and detained him while other officers searched the building and located a woman – deceased – with gunshot wounds.

Detectives from the HBPD Major Crimes Unit responded and took over the investigation. Also on the scene was personnel from the Orange County Sheriff’s Department’s coroner division and crime lab.

Alvarez was arrested and booked into Huntington Beach City Jail for murder. The identity of the deceased woman is not being revealed at this time.
