Man’s death tied to gambling?

The area of Main and Pacific streets in Stanton is becoming a hot spot of crime, as the body of a man was found early Sunday morning around 5:30 a.m. and the inquiry into the man’s death led to the arrests of six people for illegal gambling.

According to the Orange County Sheriff’s Department – which provides police services to Stanton – the deceased was a man in his 30s. His identity will be disclosed once the coroner has confirmed the cause of death and the next of kin notified. The investigation is continuing.

The OCSD is asking anyone who “may have seen something related to this incident” to call the Sheriff’s Dispatch at (714) 647-7000.

In their investigation, sheriff’s department investigators detained about 50 people at a suspected illegal gambling location near Cerritos Avenue and Flower Avenue.

Six people were arrested for outstanding warrants not related to the incident. Multiple gambling machines were removed from the residence and booked as evidence of illegal gambling.
