The Los Angeles Angels were on the losing side of a slugfest Sunday when they fell 11-9 in 10 innings to the Kansas City Royals in Missouri.
Leading 9-8 in the top of the 10th, the Halos were beaten by a three-run home run by Lane Thomas. The Angels had built a 6-0 lead by the end of the second inning, including a two-run home run by Mike Trout.
He’s hit eight homers this year and is batting .234 with 18 runs batted in.
Zach Neto had the best day, hitting 3-for-5 with two runs batted in, one walk and two runs scored.
It was the team’s sixth loss in seven games, including being swept in three games in Missouri. With the loss, the Angels are 12-17 and in 4th place in the American League West.
The Orange County team will start a three-game series with the White Sox in Chicago on Monday.
The Los Angeles Dodgers (19-9) reclaimed first place in the National League West with a 6-0 win over the Chicago Cubs in Chavez Ravine.
They lead the San Diego Padres (18-9) by a half-game.
Shohei Ohtani hit his 6th home run of the year, went 3-for-5 and scored twice for the Blue Crew. Justin Wrobleski improved his record to 4-0, pitching shutout innings, striking out six batters, walking four and yielding four hits.
The Dodgers open a new series on Monday hosting the Miami Marlins (13-15). Yoshi Yamamoto (2-2) will start for LAD.
