The Anaheim Ducks – like so many Californians – lost in Las Vegas on Tuesday, falling 3-2 in overtime to the Golden Knights in the NHL West second round.
Now, the Orange County team is pushed to the edge of elimination in the Stanley Cup playoffs, trailing three games to two. The sixth– and possibly last – game of the series will be Thursday in Anaheim.
Olen Zellweger and Beckett Sennecke scored for the Ducks, but the game was decided at 4:10 of overtime on a goal for Vegas by Pavel Dorofeyez.
Lukas Dostal made 29 saves on 32 shots in a valiant effort. Cutter Gauthier had assists on both Ducks’ goals.
Lakers swept by Thunder: Playing without the NBA’s top scorer – Luka Doncic – the Los Angeles Lakers were swept on Monday by the defending champion Oklahoma Thunder 115-110 in the fourth and final game of the West series at crypto.com .
Shai Gilgeous-Alexander scored 35 points for the Thunder. The Lakers led 26-20 after the first quarter and led again after the third, but the visitors pulled away in the late action.
