Blaze of wooden pallets a big task for firefighters in Orange

A gigantic mountain of lumber, once ignited, made for a towering blaze in Orange early on Tuesday.

According to the Orange City Fire Department, firefighters were dispatched to a commercial fire in the 2300 block of N. Batavia Street short after1:30 p.m.

Arriving crews found “heavy fire conditions” involving a large wooden pallet yard threatening nearby commercial buildings. More units were summoned, resulting in a three-alarm blaze.

With the help of mutual aid fire agencies, the blaze was extinguished. Crews also put out “hot spots” after the main conflagrations shut down.

There were no injuries reported and the fire was confined to the site. Information about the case was not immediately available
