Two close games and two wins for the area MLB teams.

Angels 7, Orioles 6: After falling behind 5-2 in the first two innings, the Halos charged back on Wednesday to close the gap and won the game with a dramatic home plate play.

The Angels began their comeback with a three-run burst in the eighth inning that included a ground ball single by Wade Meckler that tied the game at 5-all.

The Orioles took back the lead in the top of the 10th on a single by Pete Alonso that drove in former Angel Taylor Ward with the go-ahead run at 6-5.

With two out in the bottom of the 10th, the Orange County team pieced together the tying and winning runs.

An error by the Baltimore pitcher allowed Oswald Peraza to score from third. Then a soft ground ball single by Logan O’Hoppe brought in Nolan Schanuel to score the winning run in a close play at the plate.

Both teams left the chance for a win on the field. The Angels left 12 runners on base and the Orioles made three errors.
With the win, the Angels are 34-48, still fifth and last in the American League West, but are 5-5 over their last 10 games and have won two straight.

Dodgers 4. Twins 3: Shohei Ohtani continued to show his two-way skills in the win at Target Field in Minnesota. After a rough patch on the mound in he second inning in which the home team scored three runs, Ohtani shut down the Twins and finished with six innings pitched, allowing just two earned runs. He yielded five hits, struck out eight batters and walked two.

At bat he was 2-for-5 with one run scored and another run driven in. Mookie Betts had the best night for the visitors, going 3-for-4, with one RBI and one run scored on his ninth homer of the season.

The winning run came in the third inning when Alex Call’s sacrifice fly drove in Freddie Freeman.

The Blue Crew is 52-29, has won three straight and leads with National League West by nine games.
