A collision between a delivery truck and a motorcycle took the life of the cyclist on Saturday night in Huntington Beach.
According to Jessica Cuchilla, Huntington Beach public affairs officer, the incident took place around 8:30 p.m. at the intersection of Beach Boulevard and Slater Avenue.
Involved were a black Harley-Davidson motorcycle and grey Amazon delivery truck.
Arriving HBPD officers found the rider of the motorcycle – a 22-year-old Costa Mesa man – unconscious in the roadway. Paramedics were called and the driver was taken to a local hospital where he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead.
The driver of the Amazon truck, a 27-year-old Santa Ana man, was not injured. He cooperated with investigators and impairment doesn’t seem to be a factor. It’s not known if it was a factor with the motorcyclist.
The preliminary investigation indicates that both vehicles were traveling northbound on Beach south of Slater when the motorcycle went out of control and struck the rear of the truck.
Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact HBPD Traffic Investigator Vishal Rattanchandani at (714) 536-5231.
