A formal demand notice for over $4 million has been issued to GKN Aerospace by the County of Orange for expenses incurred by the May 21 hazardous material leak in Garden Grove on May 21.

The leak precipitated the evacuation of over 50,000 residents not only in Garden Grove but also parts of Anaheim, Cypress, Stanton and Westminster.

The prospect of a dangerous leak or even an explosion was suggested by fire responders.

Not included in this demand are the expenses by the Orange County Fire Authority, which are said to have totaled $2.8 million.
