“National Night Out” is a kind of “public safety”holiday, and it’s observed in the cities The Tribune serves – Garden Grove, Huntington Beach, Stanton and Westminster – next week.

In Garden Grove, it’s Tuesday, Aug. 4. from 5-8 p.m. in front of the Garden Grove Police Department building on Acacia Parkway (east of Euclid Street),

This free event will feature city vehicles on display, a disc jockey providing music, raffles, face-painting and more. For more information, call (714) 741-5760 or go to crimeprevention@ggcity.com.

In Huntington Beach, it’s at the Civic Center, 2000 Main St. (at Yorktown Avenue) from 5-7:30 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 8 with “family-friendly” activities, public safety demonstrations, vehicles on display and a chance to meet police and firefighting employees. It’s free, too.

For Stanton, the event is on Friday, Aug. 7 at Stanton Central Park, 10660 Western Ave. Community fun and a chance to connect with first responders will be featured. It starts at 6 p.m. Very free.

At Westminster, it’s a “double-header.” The National Night Out event will be paired with a special Summer Concert performed by The Brightsiders.

That’s Thursday, Aug. 6 in the Civic Center, 8200 Westminster Blvd. (east of Beach Boulevard) from 6-8 p.m. There will be vehicle displays, safety demonstrations, K-9 appearances, food vendors, entertainment and more. Still free.
