THE DODGERS lost and Angels won on Friday.

he Los Angeles Angels are finally out of fifth place in the American League West.

With a 4-3 win over the Miami Marlins in Florida on Friday night, the Halos finally caught the slumping Athletics – nine losses in a row and nine defeats in 10 games – and the two teams are tied with 45-71 records, locked up for fourth place.

Mike Trout homered on his birthday for the sixth time, but the decisive action came in the top of the seventh when the Angels scored three runs on a fielding error and a two-run home run by Nolan Schanuel.

The OC team used six pitchers, with the win going to Shaun Anderson (2-0), who pitched one-third of an inning at just the right time.

Dodgers lose 7th straight

Ryan Waldschmidt hit a two-run home run in the bottom of the ninth inning to lift the Arizona Diamondbacks to a 4-3 win over the Los Angeles Dodgers on Friday night at Chase Field.

It was the Dodgers’ seventh loss in a row and allowed the D-backs – second in the NL West – to close within 7.5 games of LAD.

The Blue Crew fell behind 2-0 early but rallied to tie it and ake the lead with solo runs in tthe sixth, seventh and eighth innings. It was Andy Pages’ 19th home run of the year in the eighth that put LA ahead in the eighth.

Roki Sasaki pitched well for the Dodgers, working six innings and yielding just four hits and two runs. He struck out five and walked one.
